LAS VEGAS - UNLV Athletics has announced it will assist in the relief efforts of the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Katrina by collecting donations to benefit the American Red Cross.
Student-athletes from all of UNLV's sports programs will be collecting monetary donations on the West Concourse (Portal 22) prior to and during the first quarter of UNLV's home football opener against Idaho on Saturday, Sept. 10 at Sam Boyd Stadium. The game will begin at 7 p.m.
All donations will be sent to the American Red Cross to assist in its relief efforts along the Gulf Coast.
"All UNLV Athletics staff, coaches and student-athletes' hearts go out to those affected by this tragedy," Mike Hamrick, UNLV's Director of Athletics said. "We just want to be able to help those communities affected in any way we can."
