Sanford Suspends Two Players For CSU Game

Oct. 3, 2006

LAS VEGAS - UNLV football Head Coach Mike Sanford announced Tuesday that he has suspended two players for this week's game at Colorado State because of their actions near the end of the game on Saturday vs. Nevada, Reno.

Freshman nose guard Malo Taumua, who has four tackles in 2006, and senior defensive lineman Prince Brown, who has appeared in two games this fall, will not play Saturday vs. the Rams.

Players from both UNLV and UNR spilled on to the field late in the game and one Wolf Pack player and two Rebels (including Brown but not Taumua) were ejected by officials for committing flagrant personal fouls.

"After reviewing what happened on tape, Malo Taumua and Prince Brown left the bench to aggressively participate in the confrontation on the field and they are suspended," Sanford said. "We don't condone that behavior in this program and it's not something we want identified with UNLV Football."
