Women's Cross Country

UNLV Set To Host Invite

Oct. 5, 2006

UNLV cross country will host its own meet Saturday morning, welcoming both men's and women's teams to Floyd Lamb State Park for the UNLV Invitational.

It will be the first time this year that the Rebels will run at home and it will also mark the first meet that head coach Tony Houchin's squad has not run in the state of California after opening their season with three meets in the Golden State.

Houchin will field a team of five runners and the group will be lead by sophomore Jenni Shearer, who has been the Rebels' highest finisher at every meet thus far this season. At the UC Riverside Invitational last weekend Shearer ran a season-best time of 19:38.

Also running at this Saturday's meet will be Tanesha Carr, Ernestine Johnson, Ashley Lif and Laura Lundin.

Teams that will be competing along with the Rebels include Dixie State College, Cal State Northridge, East LA College, LA Trade Technical College and Cal State Dominguez Hills.

The men's 8,000 meter race gets underway at 8:00 a.m. (PT) and that is followed by the women's 5K at 8:45 a.m.
