Coming off a disappointing season-opener, in which they were held to just 15 first-half points in a 57-42 loss to Pepperdine, the Lady Rebels look to rebound this Saturday when they take on the Michigan Wolverines in the Cox Pavilion. Saturday's game will be the second of a five-game homestand for UNLV, as the team will play only two games outside of Las Vegas during the non-conference slate.
UNLV continues to deal with injury issues, as two key backups are expected to miss the rest of the month before returning back to the court in December. With them out, the Lady Rebels will need their underclassmen to step up and give better production, as UNLV will have just nine scholarship players dressed out and only two players with at least 35 games of college experience.
For the Lady Rebels to pull off a win, they will need to find better production on offense, as they shot just 33% and turned the ball over 27 times in the loss to the Waves. There were some bright spots on defense however, with UNLV coming up with 10 steals and six blocks. Last season, UNLV was second in the Mountain West with 9.8 spg, and led the league with 4.0 blocks per contest.
Michigan won the last meeting between the two schools on a shot with six seconds left for a 45-43 win in Ann Arbor back in the 2004-05 season. The Wolverines however have not won a road game since Nov. 26, 2004, while the last time UNLV lost back-to-back home games was against BYU and Utah to end the 2004-05 regular season.
