UNLV HEAD COACH Mike Sanford POST-GAME QUOTES
OVERALL ON THE GAME:
"The bottom is us not making the plays - not pass protecting, not getting away from a punt at the right time. It was not just one guy, there were a variety of things. The simple fact is we are not making the plays at critical times. We don't get over the mountain."
ON WHAT DID GO RIGHT:
"There were some great efforts out there - that's obvious. Some of the people who played well were Ronnie Smith - he just does everything. Chris Brogdon. Jeremy Geathers created all kinds of problems."
ON MISSED CHANCES TO TIE THE GAME LATE:
"We had opportunities. The last play (when driving to for the potential tying TD) we had two guys open but we didn't execute. That makes me sick."
"A lot of plays could have been made -- should have been made. There were several occasions where balls should have been caught or we could have had better throws."
ON THE REBELS' PERFORMANCE ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL:
"The defense did some things but you can't give up 34 points and win.
(On offense) The (two) interceptions and fumble killed us. On the other side of it, they are the number-nine ranked defense in the country."
"We have to be more productive on offense. Rocky ran the ball a little better, made some progress there, but 59 yards rushing and 162 yards passing is not good enough."
ON NEXT WEEK'S SEASON FINALE HOME GAME VS. AIR FORCE:
"We have one more shot next week when we honor the seniors and I expect them to lead us to victory. We're not dead yet."
