UNLV hosts Cal State Bakersfield Monday night looking for its first win of the 2006-07 season, after playing a strong game against Michigan on Saturday before the Wolverines rallied late to come away with the win. It was the second straight loss at home for the Lady Rebels, who have never lost three straight road games under ninth-year head coach Regina Miller. The Roadrunners meanwhile will be playing their first-ever Division I opponent in school history, as UNLV is one of six D-1 programs CSUB will face this seasons. They have experienced success at the D-2 level though, having played in the NCAA D-2 Tournament the last six years.

CSU Bakersfield will be hard pressed to stop Lady Rebel star Sequoia Holmes, as the junior forward torched Michigan for a career-high 32 points on Saturday. UNLV would like to get Holmes more help on offense however, and hope that sophomore center Shamela Hampton will be able to establish herself in the paint for another scoring option. The Lady Rebels are shorthanded for the rest of the month due to injuries, and are dressing out just nine scholarship players for at least the next few weeks, until Kameca Simmons and Samantha Stickler are cleared to come back.

Monday's game is the third of a five-game homestand for UNLV, but is only the second to be held in the Cox Pavilion. This weekend's Lady Rebel shootout, featuring Kansas State, Wisconsin, and Elon, will be held Friday-Saturday in the Thomas & Mack Center.
