Coming off a 60-52 win over Cal State Bakersfield this past Monday, the Lady Rebels look to continue a win streak when they host Elon on Friday to begin play in the 2006 Lady Rebel Shootout. If UNLV gets past the Phoenix, they would play in the championship game against either Kansas State, 2006 Postseason WNIT champions, or the Wisconsin Badgers, who are currently 4-0 on the season. UNLV has played well in its own Thanksgiving tournament however, having won the tournament title four of the seven years, including two of the past three.

One advantage for the Lady Rebels, for the first time this year, will be the size of their bench, as they finally got back one of three players injured in the preseason, freshman center Samantha Stickler. Stickler scored six key points in the final minutes to help UNLV rally past CSUB for the win on Monday night, and her return now gives UNLV five healthy scholarship players on the bench, while Elon has played just nine players total this season thus far.

The Phoenix will be hard pressed to stop Lady Rebel star , as the junior forward is averaging 20 points per game after scoring a career-high 32 against Michigan and 22 in the win over CSUB. UNLV would like to get Holmes more help on offense however, and hope that sophomore center Shamela Hampton be able to establish herself in the paint for another scoring option.

This weekend's tournament ends a five-game homestand for the Lady Rebels.
