AUSTIN, Texas - UNLV sophomore Jonas Andersson took seventh in the 100 breast and helped the 200 medley relay team to a fourth-place finish to held the Rebel men stay in fifth place after two days of action in the University of Texas Invitational on Friday. The Rebel men have 194 points after the second day, while the UNLV women stand in 14th place with 13 points. Arizona leads both the men's and women's team standings.
Andersson swam a time of 55.66 in the 100 breast to finish seventh, while Eric Culberson placed 17th in the same event in a time of 57.28. Andersson also swam the breast leg on the 200 medley relay team, comprised also of Devin Phillips, Tiger Christian, and Brandon Nelms, that finished fourth in 1:30.29.
Also for the men on Friday night, Tamas Bosnyak placed 18th in the 400 IM (4:02.32), Richard Hortness was 28th in the 200 free (1:40.01), while Phillips and Christian placed 12th and 15th in the 100 back in times of 50.09 and 50.82, respectively.
On the women's side, freshman Marva Harpak placed 32nd in the 200 free after touching the wall in 1:52.13.
The three-day invitational concludes on Saturday.
