Seeing their first action on Tuesday after a 10-day break for exams, the UNLV women's basketball team (3-4) returns to the court to take on a second straight former Big West rival, UC Irvine at 5 pm in the Cox Pavilion. This is not as storied a rivarly as UNLV's series with Long Beach State was however, as the Lady Rebels have won 26 of the 30 meetings with the Anteaters.

Tuesday's game will also be available on video streaming online at www.unlvrebels.com.

It's still a big game for both teams, which are off to slow starts this year, partly due to injuries to both teams. UNLV is down two seniors, while UCI lost the services of Kelly Cochran, their leading scorer who has missed the past four games with a knee injury.

The Lady Rebels look to move back to .500 with a win Tuesday, and hope that will be a spark to their play in the Duel In The Desert tournament, which starts the very next day. UNLV will be facing a tough Boise State team, with a potential matchup with top-15 Purdue awaiting.

For UNLV to win, they will need to continue to make improvements on offense, as the team is shooting just 39% from the floor, and scoring 56.3 points per game, by far the lowest of any Regina Miller coached squad. The Lady Rebels have kept themselves in games however with their defense, as they are ranked 27th in the nation in scoring defense at 54.9 ppg. UNLV is also in the top three in the league in both blocks and steals, helped by junior guard Sequoia Holmes, who is ranked 11th in the nation with 3.6 steals per contest.
