LAS VEGAS - Fresno State's 61st-ranked Melanie Gloria rallied from a 4-0 deficit in her team-match-deciding third set to upset No. 18 Elena Gantcheva of UNLV and give the Bulldogs a 4-3 victory and the championship of the Lady Rebel Classic at the Fertitta Tennis Complex Sunday.

After earning the doubles point, No. 47 Fresno State charged to a 3-1 lead before No. 37 host UNLV rallied to tie the match 3-3. Cindy Treber continued her strong play with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 4, Sharon Marin got her first win vs. a ranked opponent, 7-6, 6-3, over No. 83 Lucia Sanz on court three and Nikol Dimitrova rallied for a 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory at the second court to knot things up.

With all eyes on the top court, Gantcheva seemed to be in complete control before losing seven of her last eight games in falling 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.

UNLV dropped to 6-3 overall and lost at home for the first time in seven matches this season.

"This was a rough way to lose," UNLV head coach Kevin Cory said. "However, playing such a close, tough one like this will help us down the road. You have to give Fresno State credit. They got it done and are going to beat a lot of good teams this season."

The Lady Rebels now prepare to take on No. 27 Michigan on Friday beginning at 1 p.m. in match that will be played at the Darling Tennis Center.

Elsewhere on Sunday, No. 73 Boise State downed Oklahoma State 5-2 to win third place. In consolation action, UC Santa Barbara stopped Northern Arizona 4-0 and Loyola Marymount won by the same score over Montana.
