McCracklin Named MWC Player Of The Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - For the second time this month, UNLV's Sherry McCracklin was named the Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week after leading the Lady Rebels to a split against No. 19 Utah and Air Force, the conference announced on Monday. It is the second weekly honor of the season for McCracklin, who shared the award with New Mexico's Julie Broidy, and the fourth in her career.

McCracklin, a 6-1 forward from Hazel Crest, Ill., posted almost identical numbers in the games against Utah and Air Force, as she was 7-of-11 from the floor in both games on the way to 17 points in each game. Against the Utes, McCracklin added seven rebounds, one assist, one block, and one steal on Feb. 22. At home against the Falcons on Feb. 25, McCracklin posted eight rebounds, three assists, a block, and three steals.

For the week, she averaged 17 points, 7.5 rebounds, and added four assists, two blocks, and four steals. She also shot 63.6% (14-of-22) from the floor.

UNLV (16-9, 8-6 MWC), next hosts No. 21 New Mexico on Senior Night on Thursday at 7 pm in the Thomas & Mack Center.
