Amundson Named Second Team Academic All-District

LAS VEGAS - UNLV men's basketball senior Louis Amundson has been selected to the 2005-06 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 8 University Division second team as voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Amundson, a 6-9 forward, earned his bachelor's degree last year and has a 3.30 cumulative grade point average. His degree is in university studies with areas of study in English and philosophy and he is currently working toward a second bachelor's degree in finance.

Amundson, a three-time member of the Academic All-Mountain West Conference team, leads the Runnin' Rebels in scoring (13.9 ppg), rebounding (9.5 rpg) and blocked shots (1.1 per game) this season. He is third on the team in field goal percentage (.525) and is also third in steals. He ranks third in the MWC in rebounding and eighth in scoring this season and has turned in nine double-doubles.

Student-athletes must be in at least their second season, hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.20 and be a starter or important reserve to be eligible. District 8 is made up of schools in California, Hawaii, Alaska, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada and Utah.
