LAS VEGAS - UNLV football will hold its first spring practice of the year on Tuesday to begin a 15-session schedule that culminates with a traditional spring game at Sam Boyd Stadium on April 14.

The Rebels pull on the pads under head coach Mike Sanford for the second time and will once again have the luxury of performing on the AstroPlay synthetic surface on campus at Ernie Becker Sr. Football Fields at Bill "Wildcat" Morris Rebel Park.

UNLV is scheduled to practice every Tuesday (from approximately 3:00-5:15 p.m.), Wednesday (4:00-6:15 pm), Thursday (4:25-6:45 p.m.) and Friday (4:25-6:45 pm). There will not be a practice on Wednesday, April 12.

All practices are open to the public but viewing areas are restricted and please note that times are subject to change.

Once again the public is invited to attend the FREE Scarlet vs. Gray spring game on April 14 at Sam Boyd Stadium from approximately 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., while a barbecue dinner with the team will follow.

When purchased in advance, tickets for the Memphis Barbecue meal are $12 for adults, $8 for kids age 12-and-younger and current UNLV students with valid school ID. Meal prices will be $15 and $10 on the day of the event.

Advance tickets for the BBQ can be purchased in person at the Thomas & Mack Center box office starting this Tuesday at 10 a.m. Box office hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Monday through Friday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturdays.

UNLV opens its 2006 season on Sept. 2 when it hosts Idaho State. Season tickets for the program's six-game home schedule are on sale now by calling 739-FANS.
