LAS VEGAS - UNLV men's basketball junior Jason Petrimoulx broke the fifth metatarsal in his left foot and will miss the remainder of the season, head coach Lon Kruger announced Thursday.
The 6-4 guard from Las Vegas suffered the injury in the second half of UNLV's game at New Mexico on Wednesday. Petrimoulx leads the Runnin' Rebels in assists and is second in the Mountain West Conference with 4.0 apg. He played in 27 games, started 25, and averaged 10.1 ppg and 2.7 rpg.
Petrimoulx shot 41.0 percent (93-of-227) from the field, 34.7 percent (43-of-124) from 3-point range and 76.8 percent (43-of-56) from the free throw line this year. He also ranked third on the team in steals (25).
"I am very disappointed for Jason," Kruger said. "It is always tough to miss time with an injury, but when it happens during the stretch run and around conference tournament time it is a big let down. What will bother Jason the most is not being able to be on the court to help his teammates."
