CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - With its second straight 4-0 victory, this time over Marquette on Saturday, the 74th-ranked UNLV men's tennis team finished 2-1 at the annual HEB College Invitational.
With their winningest player, Elliot Wronski, back in the lineup, the Rebels improved to 9-3 overall while the Golden Eagles fell to 7-4.
In doubles play, Wronski teamed with Brett Hunter at the second spot to win 8-1 while Romain Massaro and Wesley Burrows won 8-2 to clinch the team point.
Moving to singles, Hunter won 7-5, 6-4 at No. 3, Burrows cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 5 and Jonathan Hooper ended things with a 6-1, 6-3 victory on court six.
"We earned a solid win today to close out the tournament," head coach Owen Hambrook said. "It was a good effort in doubles, which continued through singles. Now we'll come home and get ready for a tough non-conference opponent next week."
The Rebels host No. 58 Ball State on Friday beginning at 1 p.m.
