LAS VEGAS - The public is invited to attend the inaugural UNLV Football Night of Champions, a free event on campus this Thursday.

Slated to run from 7:30 p.m. to approximately 8:45 p.m., Night of Champions will pit eight teams of 10 Rebel players in a series of non-football competitions at the Ernie Becker Sr. Football Fields at Bill "Wildcat" Morris Rebel Park.

Scored events include a tire flip, relay races, sled pull, bar hold and finishing with a grand finale. The winning team will be recognized as 2006 Champions in the Lied Athletic Complex's Ernie Becker Sr. Strength and Conditioning Center for the next year.

Director of Strength and Conditioning John Grieco said the spirited evening will lead up to the end of the team's spring drills next week.

"This gives the players a chance to go out and compete and finish up the spring season in a fun and energetic but also physically demanding event," Grieco said. "Expect some serious competition because bragging rights are on the line."
