IN THE BATTER'S BOX
UNLV opens up its league home slate with a three-game series with visiting BYU on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. (PST) at Earl E. Wilson Stadium. That game will be televised live on CSTV, the first time this year that UNLV will be on TV. The second game of the series is Friday at 6:30 p.m. and the final game of the set is Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
REBELS ON CSTV
Thursday's game will be on CSTV, with Tom Hart doing the play-by-play with former MLB shortstop Kevin Stocker doing color. Las Vegas residents can watch the game on either the Dish Satellite Network or Direct TV.

The Rebels: UNLV enters Thursday's game against BYU with a 15-17 record, 2-2 in the MWC after the Rebels beat UC Riverside on Tuesday at home. Keith leads the Rebel regulars in batting average with a .326 clip (31-95) and his 30 RBI are tops on the team. Chad Miller paces the team with 6 home runs and Chris Bonnell's 12 doubles leads the team. Chris Saddoris (5-4) leads the Rebel staff with nine starts and 52.1 innings of work from the mound. Jabe Beard has made 15 appearances out of the Rebel bullpen and has recorded four saves, both tops on the staff. Kevin Skogley paces the Rebels with 32 strikeouts and 10 different UNLV pitchers have recorded at least one win this season.
BYU COUGARS(11-17, 1-3 Mountain West Conference)Head Coach: Vance Law(195-155-2, 7th year; Overall, same)
The Cougars: BYU comes to Las Vegas fesh off of beating Southern Utah 23-6 in Provo on Tuesday. Overall though the Cougars have struggled as of late, losing four of their past six games, including a 1-3 mark at the MWC Preseason Tournament in San Diego last weekend. Ben Saylor leads the BYU regulars, hitting .306 (30-98) with six home runs and 20 RBI, with all three marks leading the team. Marcos Villezcas and Jee Hiestand each have 16 RBI for BYU's offense. On the mound Jesse Craig is 1-5 despite a 2.98 ERA and the right hander leads the team with 45 strikeouts. Craig, Brandon Christiansen and Patrick Wells have each made eight starts. Josh Barrett has two of the Cougars three saves and is 1-0 with a 1.35 ERA in 10 appearances.
LAST TIME OUT
UNLV baseball used two big innings, the bigger one being a seven-run eighth inning, to win a high-scoring 14-8 game against non-conference foe UC Riverside on a windy Tuesday night at Earl E. Wilson Stadium. Down 8-7 heading into the bottom of the eighth, the Rebels sent eight batters to the plate before an out was recorded to win for the sixth time this season when either trailing or tied heading into the final three innings of a game. Chris Saddoris (5-4) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for UNLV and UCR reliever Dan Runzler (2-3) took the loss. In the game-changing inning 12 Rebels went to the plate in the game-breaking inning.
