Camp Stars: Marco Guerra

Aug. 12, 2006

SATURDAY'S CAMP STAR:

Marco Guerra, 6-5, 335, Sr., Los Angeles, Fremont High School

After being slowed virtually throughout his Rebel career by various serious injuries, Marco Guerra looks to be 100 percent just in time to enjoy a dominating senior campaign and certainly in time to be our first Camp Star of the preseason.

After breaking a leg in 2004 and then an ankle last fall when he lined up at guard, the starting offensive tackle was just voted as one of four team camptains for 2006. Named preseason third team Mountain West Conference by Athlon, the sociology major has been impressive throughout preseason camp and seems poised to finally reach the potential many saw for the Californian when he chose the Rebels out of Fremont High School in 2002.

"Marco Guerra is a senior who has shown great commitment this summer and his hard work is paying off," head coach Mike Sanford said. "He has a lot of ability as both a run blocker and pass protector. He's had injuries in the past but he is excelling in camp we look forward to a great year from him."
