Camp Stars: Aaron Mueller

Aug. 17, 2006

THURSDAY'S CAMP STAR:

Aaron Mueller, OL, 6-2, 290, SR-2L, Rockford, IL, Boylan HS

Aaron Mueller is one of the Rebels' most versatile lineman who is willing to play anywhere in the trenches and that's why he is our Thursday Camp Star.

Mueller, a senior from Rockford, Ill., moved up and down the offensive line last year, opening the 2005 season starting three games at left guard before being moved to center, where he started five more times. Tabbed preseason third team All-MWC by Phil Steele's heading into this year, Mueller is listed as the team's top center on the depth chart and is working hard to finish his Rebel career on a strong note.

"It is nice to be at one position, to be settled into it. The hardest part of learning center was the shot-gun snaps, but I worked all summer with the quarterbacks on that," Mueller says. "Camp so far has been great, everyone has been learning a lot and the weather has been wonderful."

Mueller, who is majoring in criminal justice, has provided great leadership to the Rebel offensive line through his work ethic and attitude.

"Aaron is a senior who has a great attitude, is very popular with the team and is a good communicator along the offensive line," head coach Mike Sanford said. "He is definitely more comfortable at center now and he is a leader for us."
