Camp Star: David Peeples

Aug. 22, 2006

TUESDAY'S CAMP STAR:

David Peeples, RB, 5-9, 190, So.-1L, Las Vegas, NV, Cheyenne HS

David Peeples earned his first letter last season and has continued to improve with a strong spring and fall camp, making him our camp star for Tuesday.

Peeples, a graduate from Cheyenne High School, had an excellent spring game, leading all rushers with 67 yards on just six carries. The sophomore back is number two on the Rebel depth chart and he appeared in six games last season. In his senior season of high school, Peeples rushed for 1,954 yards and 19 touchdowns on his way to being named the Gatorade Nevada Player of the Year.

"Camp has gone very good so far, there has been a lot of competition and to me, this is the best camp since I have been here at UNLV," Peeples said. "I worked very hard over the summer and a lot of that is because of Erick Jackson, who has taught me how to do that."

The Las Vegas native is looking forward to more playing time, especially at home in Sam Boyd Stadium, and it is his hard work that has given him that opportunity.

"David plays and runs very hard, and he is very athletic," UNLV head coach Mike Sanford said. "We feel like he is a very much improved player from the spring into now."
