Hinds Questionable For Saturday

Sept. 11, 2006

LAS VEGAS - An MRI performed on UNLV starting quarterback Rocky Hinds' injured right knee revealed no tearing of his ACL or MCL after the sophomore was knocked out of Saturday's game at Iowa State.

Head Coach Mike Sanford said Monday that Hinds does have a sprained knee and is questionable for this week's game at Hawaii.

"Rocky's knee is sore and stiff and we'll see how it goes this week in practice," Sanford said. "I would make him questionable for our next game."

Hinds, who sat out 2005 after transferring from USC, won the starting job during preseason camp and led the Rebels to an opening-game 54-10 victory over Idaho State on Sept. 2.

On Saturday, UNLV was leading 3-0 early in the second quarter as Hinds had completed five of his eight pass attempts for 38 yards when he left the game, which the Rebels lost 16-10.

On the season, he is 29-50 for 360 yards and one score and no interceptions. He has been sacked just once and has rushed for 34 yards and one touchdown on seven carries.
