TOLEDO, Ohio - The No. 5 UNLV men's golf team shot a final-round 11-over-par 295 on Tuesday to finish sixth at the Inverness Intercollegiate played at the Inverness Club (par 71, 7,255 yards).
The Rebels (312-299-295--906, +54) finished the tournament at 54-over 906, 10 shots behind team champion USC (303-299-294--896, +44), which shot a final-round 10-over 294 and finished the event at 44-over 896.
Second-round leader TCU (295-299-305--899, +47) finished three shots back in second place at 47-over, while Florida (303-303-294--900, +48) finished third, Coastal Carolina (299-303-299--901, +49) finished fourth and Georgia (305-301-298--904, +52) rounded out the top five.
TCU's Jon McLean (69-72-73--214, +1) shot a final-round 2-over 73 but hung on for the individual title at 1-over, defeating Florida's Manuel Villegas (74-76-68--218, +5) by four shots.
UNLV was led by senior Ryan Keeney (74-74-75--223, +10) who shot a final-round 5-over 75 and tied for sixth, nine shots back. Junior Jarred Texter (78-76-70--224, +11) also recorded a top-10 finish after a final-round 1-under 70 secured the eighth spot.
Other UNLV scores: junior C.J. Gatto (78-77-75--230, +17; T25th), sophomore Seung-Su Han (84-72-75--231, +18; T29th) and sophomore Blake Trimble (82-81-82--245, +32; T69th).
UNLV's next action will be Sept. 22-23 at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate in Albuquerque, N.M.
