Split Decision

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - Making her collegiate debut on Saturday, UNLV freshman Kristina Nedeltcheva won her first-round match before being eliminated during the first day of prequalifying for the 2006 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Tennis Championships.

Nedeltcheva opened with a morning match and defeated Victoria Brymer of Washington 6-2, 6-1. She then lost to North Carolina's Austin Smith 6-3, 6-2 in the second round.

Nedeltcheva, who paired with sophomore Nikol Dimitrova, also was eliminated in doubles, 8-4, by UCLA's Viktoria Lind and Stephanie Wetmore.

Dimitrova will play in the tournament's qualifying round later this week while junior UNLV star Elena Gantcheva earned a spot in the main draw, which starts Oct. 5.
