Kickin' It With Serge: Entry No. 8

Being at Sam Boyd is always good but when you don't win for your crowd it is tough. BYU played a tough game and brought a lot of fans here. We came into the game with a winning attitude and with the urgency to win. We could not capitalize on some things and we need to correct that. We need more people on the team to step up and play fast and smart, and I believe that we will have more players doing that this week.

Being a college athlete you are exposed to the world. You may think that you are just a regular college student, but no, you are constantly on the radar. One thing that was funny was, this past week I had an interview with a very lovely correspondent from The Mtn. and I know she is probably reading this, so "Buenas tardes, Senorita." She brought up a question about my myspace, which I thought was funny and interesting because, I have never been asked a question regarding that and it just goes to show that everyone is looking at all of us student-athletes all the time and we have to make sure that we make great decisions and represent our school with pride, dignity and respect.

After the game it was a pretty emotional time for a lot players, especially the seniors. I just hope the younger guys understand how it is to be a senior and to be playing in our last games at UNLV. Many of them will not have that urgency until it is their last year, then they will be the ones in a rush trying to accomplish everything in just one season.

The majority of us have four years to do what we want done at this institution. That goes for getting our degrees and winning ball games. That's all we have is four years of our life to invest in something great and I just hope the team can see that life is short and full of surprises and that we need to take advantage of the time Now! Come together and focus on the prize, which is winning games and going to a bowl game.

There is no doubt in my mind that we can do it, we still have plenty of games to do it and it's up to the leaders and the Seniors of this team to help everyone else get on board and accomplish it.

This week we have Colorado State and they are a good football team. We need to have a great week of practice and focus well on the task coming up. We all have a job to do on this team and no job is more important than the other. Everyone has to do their job for us to win.

This time of the year is test time and it is kind of exciting for me because this is almost the half-way mark and I am almost going to graduate!!! Yeah Baby!

Well I hope all you Rebel fans have not lost faith in us and will come out this Saturday and support us at 6 p.m.

See you there.

The quote of the week, I happened to hear on a movie trailer for the movie, "Elizabeth: The Golden Age"

"Why worry about tomorrow, when all we have it today"
