UNLV HEAD COACH MIKE SANFORD

Oct. 16, 2007

On if the struggles on offense can be traced to one certain area:
"You have to look at it game-by-game. Two weeks ago we moved the ball all over the field but didn't score and that is execution in the red zone. This last week part of it was BYU had the ball and part of it we didn't convert on third down to keep the ball. To me, it is not just one person, it is everybody. When you don't execute on offense, it is the whole group."

On the upcoming game with Colorado State:
"Right now we are not exactly in a situation where we can feel great about where we are. We have to get a win. I feel we are in a very similar state. I think you have two teams that are desperately in need of a win."

On the importance of this game to get back on track:
"We have to win this game because it is the next game. Because it is a home game, it is an important game and we are going against a program that has been one of the best in this conference over the years. If we are going to progress in this conference and move up and turn this thing around like I expect to, you have to beat Colorado State."

On Colorado State head coach Sonny Lubick:
"I have tremendous respect for him. He is one of those special people in the coaching profession. Not only has he been successful, not only do I know a lot of people who know him and admire him, but I have really gotten to know him more since I have been a head coach in this conference. He means a lot to college football."

On Colorado State quarterback Caleb Hanie:
"Caleb Hanie is a really good player. He is an experienced senior quarterback who has had a very good career. Our team has a lot of respect for him. He is a big physical guy who is hard to tackle once he scrambles."
