LAS VEGAS - Josh Wick has been named assistant women's basketball coach at UNLV, head coach Regina Miller announced on Tuesday. Wick replaces Melanie Pearson, who resigned in June to pursue other professional opportunities.
Wick comes to the Lady Rebel staff from the University of North Carolina, where he spent the past three seasons as the video coordinator for the women's basketball team, which advanced to two Final Fours during his time in Chapel Hill. As video coordinator, Wick was involved with on-campus recruiting visits, breaking down game film and film exchange, as well as assembling and coaching the male practice squad.
"Josh brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in the areas of scouting and game preparation to our program," said Miller. "Having experienced working with one of the top women's basketball programs in the country, he is a great addition to our staff."
Prior to UNC, Wick was head boy's basketball coach for Cresset Christian Academy in Durham, N.C., from 1999-2002, and led that team to a regular season championship. He then entered the real estate field, before joining the Lady Tar Heel staff in September of 2004.
Wick received his bachelor of arts degree in communication studies from North Carolina in 2001.
