Rebel Pair Turn In Strong Second Rounds

PALO ALTO, Calif. - PALO ALTO, Calif. -- UNLV women's golf is in 12th place following the second round of the Stanford Intercollegiate on Saturday as the Rebels have a team score of 616 (304-312, +48).

No. 2 Duke, the defending national champions, kept the team lead as the Blue Devils have a team score of 586 (282-292, +6). No. 4 Arizona State (293-293--586, +18) is second, followed by No. 1 UCLA (291-296--587, +19). Amanda Blumenherst of Duke remains in the lead for medalist honors, pacing the field with a total of 139 (66-73, -3) heading into the final round.

A pair of Rebels turned in strong rounds as freshman Therese Koelbaek and sophomore Natasha Krishna each shot second-round scores of 73 (+2) and both are in the top 25 of the leaderboard. Koelbaek is tied for 17th with a total of 148 (+8) and Krishna is tied for 22nd just one-stroke behind with a score of 149 (+9).

Rounding out the Rebels was Tonya Choate (76-83--159, +12) who was tied for 60th, Alejandra Guacaneme (77-84--161, +19) is tied for 70th and Nicole McGirr (82-83--166, +23) is tied for 83rd.

Of the 18 participating squads at this week's Stanford Intercollegiate, 11 are ranked among the nation's top-30 teams recognized in this week's edition of the Golfweek rankings, including top-ranked UCLA, second-ranked Duke and No. 4 Arizona State. No. 23 New Mexico is the only other Mountain West Conference team in the field.
