Lana Yamagata each finished in the top 20 as UNLV women's golf wrapped up fall play Monday at the Jim West Challenge hosted by Texas State at Kissing Tree Golf Club (Par 72, 6,236 yards).
REBEL ROUNDUP: Foong, who shot a final-round 3-under 69, tied for 11th at 4-under 212 and Yamagata turned in her best fall showing in a tie for 18th at 1-under 215. Freshman
Demi Du (+5) gave the Rebels a third top-30 finish, scoring a 1-under 71 for the second straight round to tie for 30th. Rounding out the lineup, sophomore
Amber Chen (+9) tied for 45th and freshman
Yen Liu tied for 76th.
As a team, the Scarlet & Gray (+9) ended the two-day event with a season-best tournament score of 873 in an eighth-place finish.
CHAMPIONS: Texas A&M overtook day-one leader Florida State to win the team title with a 15-under 849 through 54 holes. Individual medalist honors went to Houston's Natalie Saint Germain with a 10-under 206.
UP NEXT: The Rebels will have individuals playing at The Clash at Boulder Creek nearby in Boulder City at Boulder Creek Golf Club from Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 27-28. UNLV resumes team competition at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge being hosted by Ohio State from Feb. 1-3.
