BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The No. 16 UNLV men's golf team is six shots off the lead and in second place at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate after the first two rounds, which were played on Monday at the Old Overton Golf Club (par 71, 6,958 yards).
The Rebels opened with a first-round 11-under-par 273 and followed with a second-round 13-under 271 for a 36-hole total of 24-under 544. Host Alabama leads the field at 30-under 538, six shots ahead of the Rebels. The Crimson Tide's lowest round of the day came during the second round with a 16-under 268.
UAB is third at 23-under, followed by North Carolina in fourth at 20-under, while Auburn rounds out the top five at 18-under, 12 shots back.
Individually, Alabama's Mark Harrell leads the field at 12-under 130 after firing rounds of 66 and 64. UNLV's Seung-Su Han and East Tennessee State's Seamus Power are both just one shot back, tied for second at 11-under. Han fired rounds of 5-under 66 and 6-under 65 during the first two rounds, respectively, while Power carded a 65 and 66.
