LAS VEGAS - The 54th-ranked UNLV women's tennis team did not lose a set en route to a 7-0 victory over Colorado State on a beautiful Saturday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The Lady Rebels improved to 13-3 overall and 2-0 in the Mountain West Conference while the Rams saw their four-match winning streak snapped in falling to 5-5 and 0-1.
UNLV began the day by taking three doubles matches for one team point. UNLV's top duo, 35th-ranked Elena Gantcheva and Kristina Nedeltcheva, continued its impressive run by winning 8-4 a the No. 1 position to improve to 14-1 overall.
In singles play, Gantcheva rolled over Emily Kirchen 6-0, 6-1 at the top spot. Nedeltcheva won 7-5, 6-4 at No. 2; Nikol Dimitrova won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3; Claire Smith won 7-6, 6-4 at No. 4; Linda Tempelfelde won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 5; and Alisa Razina swept her opponent 6-1, 6-2 on court . UNLV will continue its MWC schedule by taking on Air Force Sunday beginning with doubles play at 10 a.m.
