March 9, 2007

LAS VEGAS - UNLV freshman Kristina Nedeltcheva earned her first Mountain West Conference Player of the Week honor, the league announced Friday.

The native of Sofia, Bulgaria, posted a combined 5-1 record in singles and doubles play last week to help UNLV to victories over Furman, No. 72 San Diego and Boston College. She lost only one set at No. 2 singles to improve her record to 14-3 overall and 10-1 in dual matches.

Nedeltcheva also paired with junior Elena Gantcheva to win two of three matches at No. 1 doubles as the then-26th-ranked duo improved to 11-1. Air Force's Brett Rodgers was named the league's men's player of the week.
