MALIBU, Calif. - The 44th-ranked UNLV women's tennis team made its first road trip of the season and lost 6-1 to No. 24 Pepperdine at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center Friday.
The Lady Rebels fell to 10-3 while the Waves improved to 7-6.
Pepperdine started the day by taking two of three doubles matches for one team point. UNLV did win at the top position when Elena Gantcheva and Kristina Nedeltcheva outlasted Bianca Dulgheru and Sylvia Kosakowski 8-7 to improve to 12-1.
In singles, the hosts proved too powerful, winning all but three sets overall. Scoring for the Lady Rebels was senior Linda Tempelfelde, who downed Jillian Braverman 6-3, 7-6.
UNLV will take off next week for spring break before returning to action with five straight home matches, beginning with Oklahoma on March 21.
