IN THE BATTER'S BOX: UNLV returns home after a six-game road trip to open up a three-game set with TCU, who is in first place atop the league standings. The first game of the series if Friday night at 7:00 p.m. (PT) from Earl E. Wilson Stadium and the game will be televised live on The Mtn. Saturday's start time is set for 2:00 p.m. and Sunday's start is slated for 1:00 p.m.

FRIDAY'S GAME ON THE MTN.: UNLV's game with TCU on Friday will be televised live by The Mtn. with James Bates handling the play-by-play and Todd Christensen serving as the analyst.

THE SERIES: UNLV trails the all-time series with TCU by a narrow 10-11 (.476) margin. The Rebels dropped all four games they played against the Horned Frogs last year, including a three-game series in Ft. Worth, Texas.

The Rebels: UNLV had three games swept from them by BYU on the road last weekend, giving the Rebels a four-game losing skid that matches the team's longest such streak this year. Ryan Kowalski is leading the Rebels at the plate with a .365 average (46-126) and has stolen 12 bases. Blake Gailen has scored 34 runs, driven in another 27 runs and has roped 11 doubles, all tops on the squad. Overall the Rebels have six regulars hitting .300 or better. Calvin Beamon had a 17-game hitting streak earlier this year and he has also stolen 13 bases this year. On the mound starter Craig Heyer (4-4) has 51 strikeouts in a team-high 71.2 innings of work. Out of the bullpen Marc Baca is 2-2 with four saves and he has given up just four earned runs in 18 appearances. The sophomore has struck out 21 batters and has a 1.52 ERA in 23.2 innings of work.

The Horned Frogs: TCU has won six of its last seven games, including a 6-3 win over Baylor this past Tuesday night in Waco, Texas. The Horned Frogs are the defending MWC regular season and tournament champions and are currently in first in the MWC standings. On offense the Horned Frogs are led by Keith Conlon, who is hitting .395 (47-119) with six home runs and 25 RBI. Six regulars in the TCU lineup are hitting over .300, including four that are .341 or better. On the mound Friday starter Jake Arrieta is 5-2 with a 3.42 ERA and 57 strikeouts in 50.0 innings of work. TCU closer Sam Demel is 4-1 with five saves and a 2.45 ERA in 17 appearances.
