So Close...

What a night we had being back home at Sam Boyd Stadium on Saturday. Playing in front of a packed house was a beautiful sight. Nothing can describe the feeling you get when you get a chance to play for your fans and your city. Everything about the night was good except the outcome. A 20-13 loss against a fifth-ranked opponent is never something to cheer about, we had the victory in our grasp and we could not hold on to it. We emphasize "Finishing" and that was what we needed to do to win, but we could not on this night. Wisconsin is a great football team with a lot of tradition and to see us stick with them gives us motivation to continue to fight. That is something that we will not lack.

Nonetheless, the game was exciting. Our fans did a great job of being there for us and we really appreciate it. But there was something about that night that made it a little bit more special for us. You guys stood behind us through it all. I have never in my career seen what I saw Saturday. Toward the end of the game after we failed to convert on fourth down to keep the drive going, you guys clapped for us and said some very encouraging words to us while the offense was coming off the field. You knew we were going to fall to 1-1 but you didn't look at the last 1. You looked at the effort and the determination and the heart that we used. That was something that I will never forget and I thank you for giving us that respect.

Coach said that there is no such thing as a Moral victory, but there is hope. We all saw that and we will carry that with us. The hype of that game is over and a new one is created, UNLV vs. Hawaii. We are excited to play the Warriors here at home again. The team is already preparing for this battle and we have a chip on our shoulder that has been carried with us since last year. We have to have a great week of practice and be focused for this game. There is nothing better than beating a ranked team in front of our home crowd.

We look forward to seeing the same crowd that we saw on Saturday there to support us and help us win this game. So we invite you out again to Sam Boyd Stadium at 6:30pm.
