TOLEDO, Ohio - The No. 8 UNLV men's golf team is in 15th place after the first two rounds of play at the Inverness Intercollegiate played Monday at the Inverness Club (par 71, 7,255 yards).
The Rebels (302-307--609, +41), followed up a first-round 18-over-par 302 with a second-round score of 23-over 307 for a two-round total of 41-over 609, which puts them in 15th place in the 16-team season-opening tournament.
Florida State (287-281--568, E) is tournament's leader at even-par 568, followed by Michigan State (282-289--571, +3) in second place at 3-over 571. Michigan State's first-round score of 282 broke the tournament record for low round by a team until Florida State went even lower with a second-round 281 later in the day.
Louisville (290-288--578, +10) is third, followed by Texas A&M (292-287--579, +11) and Indiana (285-294--579, +11), which are both tied for fourth.
Florida State's Jonas Blixt (67-68--135, -7) is the individual leader at 7-under after carding a 4-under 67 to open the tournament and he followed that up with a 3-under 68 in the second round. Michigan State's Ryan Brehm (70-67--137, -5) is in second, two shots off the lead.
UNLV freshman Ji Moon (75-74--149, +7) leads all Rebel players at 7-over and is in a tie for 34th. Other Rebel scores: senior Matt Kinsinger (72-78--150, +8; T43rd), sophomore Eddie Olson (78-75--153, +11; T64th), sophomore Brett Kanda (77-82--159, +17; T77th) and senior Jarred Texter (79-80--159, +17; T77th).
The tournament will conclude with 18 holes on Tuesday.
