Rebels On Edge Of Top 25 Poll

Sept. 17, 2007

LEXINGTON, Ky. - After knocking off then-No. 12 BYU and Utah this past week, the CSTV/AVCA Division I Coaches Top 25 Poll has recognized UNLV's 10-1 start to the 2007 season. The Rebels currently sit one spot outside of the Top 25 poll in 26th, the highest ranking achieved in the program's history, after receiving 92 votes. The coaches poll is comprised of 60 NCAA Division I collegiate head coaches.

UNLV is off to its best start ever and is currently riding a nine-match winning streak that began on Aug. 25 with a 3-0 win over Virginia. In those nine matches, the Rebels have swept four opponents and defeated five by 3-1 scores. More importantly, six of the nine victories have come either on the road or in neutral site match-ups. Arguably, the biggest win in the streak was the team's Mountain West Conference home opener against BYU. The Rebels swept past the Cougars in the Cox Pavilion en route to the program's third win in the all-time series history.

After briefly spending last week at home, the Rebels hit the road for the third time in four weeks. UNLV travels to San Diego, Calif., to face the San Diego Aztecs (9-3 overall, 1-1 MWC) on Friday, Sept. 21 (7:00 pm). The Rebels then head north to Santa Clara, Calif., to battle the Santa Clara Broncos (7-6) on Sunday, Sept. 23 (1:00 pm).
