LAS VEGAS - The No. 16 UNLV men's golf team leads the Shoot-out at Angel Park after the first two rounds, which were played Saturday at Angel Park Golf Club (par 71, 6,722 yards) in Las Vegas.
The Rebels fired a 2-under-par 282 during the first round and followed that up with a 1-under 283 in the second round and lead the field by seven shots at 3-under 565. Cal State Northridge is second at 4-over, followed by San Jose State in third at 12-over. Southern Utah and a second UNLV squad (made up of individuals) are tied for fourth at 19-over.
UNLV junior Seung-su Han leads all individuals with a 4-under 138 after two rounds. Han shot 3-under 68 during the first round and 1-under 70 during the second. Gonzaga's Brandon Crick and Arizona State's Jed Dirksen are both tied for second at 2-under 140. Dirksen is competing as an individual.
Other players counting towards UNLV's first place team are Jarred Texter (70-71--141, T4th), Ji Moon (71-71--142, T6th), Eddie Olson (73-71--144, T11th) and Brett Kanda (75-72--147, T25th). UNLV's other squad is made with scores from Kevin Carrigan (76-68--144, T11th), Matt Kinsinger (74-70--146, T21st), Brandon Loska (73-74--147, T25th), C.J. Gatto (73-78--151, T51st) and Johnny Pinjuv (77-77--154, T66th).
The tournament will conclude with 18 holes on Sunday.
