Sergio Aguayo Player Diary Number 2

"Win with the Rebels a VICTORY today..." Wow! What a way to start the season -- with a win. There is nothing better than going into the locker room and singing that song with the team.

We went to Logan, Utah, with one thing in mind and that was leaving with a victory and we accomplished that goal. Winning on the road was even more important because we had not done it in awhile but we know that we have the talent and the fight to make it happen. Utah State came out strong but it was our players who were able to finish. Travis Dixon got the game ball and you can tell that he is turning into a great leader. The locker room atmosphere was unreal and there was a lot of emotion.

School started last week and some people where excited others were not. We could have let it distract us but we didn't. This is the time when "Student" gets put in front of "Athlete." Coach really emphasizes education and he makes sure that we have a top-notch academic support staff. I am just taking two classes this semester, which makes it a bit easier on me. The NCAA requires you to be enrolled full-time, which is 12 credits, in order to participate, but if you need only 6 credits or maybe 3 credits to graduate, that is considered full-time and that is where I stand. I get to graduate in December. Some people do not realize that being a student-athlete is a full-time job. We have class, we have practice and also study hall. Depending on what your GPA is you are assigned a specific amount of hours. So it's not just football that is thrown on our plates.

One game at a time is the way that we must look at things and this week is no exception. The Badgers are coming to Sam Boyd Stadium again and we are ready for that challenge. Everyone is excited and anxious to start out our home schedule. I can remember like it was yesterday when I made my first trip to Madison, WI, and we left there with a win (in 2003). People said we couldn't go to Camp Randall and get a win but they were wrong. Our team believed and we still believe. We are going to play with emotion, we are going to play with confidence and most importantly we are going to play with heart. Anything in college football can happen, and we got a glimpse of that on Saturday when Appalachian State beat Michigan in the Big House.

Since we played on Thursday, we had a couple days to rest up and start preparing for Wisconsin. We will work our tails of this week to try to go 2-0. We invite everyone to come out and support us. With the support of our fans I think we can do a lot of great things, and I hope you can agree with me. Hope to see all of you at Sam Boyd Stadium on Saturday, get your tickets quick because they are going fast. GO REBELS!!!

Quote of the Week: Coach told us on Thursday, "Dream big" so that is where I get my inspiration.

"So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable."
