TUCSON, Ariz. - Play was halted because of darkness during the second round at the PING-Arizona Intercollegiate, which began Monday at the par-71, 6,793-yard Arizona National Golf club with the UNLV men's golf team in third place through 29 holes.
The first round was also played Monday as UNLV fired a 6-under 278 and trailed Tennessee by six shots heading into the second round. East Tennessee State was second after one round at 10-under.
The Rebels were shooting 2-over in the second round when darkness fell and are 4-under for the tournament - just one of three teams to be under par. Tennessee is the team leader at 15-under and is followed by host Arizona in second at 8-under. East Tennessee State and UC Irvine round out the top five at 2-over and 6-over, respectively.
Leading the way for UNLV was freshman Ji Moon, who is tied for second at 5-under. Moon shot a first-round 5-under 66 and is just two shots off the lead. UCLA's Kevin Chappell leads all players at 7-under. Chappell shot a 67 during the first round of play.
Other Rebel first-round scores, overall relation to par and place: junior Seung-Su Han (69, -1, T13th), senior Matt Kinsinger (71, E, T16th), senior C.J. Gatto (73, +3, T30th) and sophomore Eddie Olson (72, +5, T40th).
The conclusion of the second round as well as the final round will be played Tuesday.
