Recap | Final Stats
OVERALL ON THE GAME:
"This is a lot more fun to do this after a win than what I have had to do recently. First of all I think our football team played hard. It was not beautiful or perfect but they played hard and they kept playing. One of the things we talked about going into the game is we had to keep playing."
ON THE MINDSET OVER THE FINAL THREE GAMES OF THE SEASON:
"We have divided our season into four quarters and this is the fourth quarter. We had three games here, we had to win them all and this was the first one. I am very proud of our football team and players. I thought a lot of guys played well. Our defense rose up and played really well."
ON THE PLAY OF QB Mike Clausen:
"I think Mike Clausen played extremely well. It was not perfect but for a guy in his first start to lead us to a win, that's tremendous. A lot of that has to do with that the fact he was not completely cold starter. He had played in some games before that. I also thought Rodelin Anthony and Deante Purvis played very well."
ON Quinton Pointer's INTERCEPTION:
"Quinton Pointer's interception was great. I think just the fact that we caught an interception was awesome. I loved it. We haven't had an interception since Arizona State, so it was awesome to catch an interception."
ON FINDING A WAY TO WIN:
"That team is every bit as good in my opinion as some of the teams we have played in close games and lost. We found a way to do it tonight. We played well together tonight. The ironic thing is after people lose people always want to evaluate them by their record. But that team is a good team. "
ON CARRYING THIS INTO NEXT WEEK'S GAME AGAINST WYOMING:
"This team is a very special team. This team is a team that is doing everything than it can to get this program over the hump. That's a process, and this is a step in that direction. But this is not the end and we are not finished. We have a lot of work to do and the next thing we have to do is get ready for Thursday night against Wyoming."
