Rebels Tied For Fourth After First Day

WAHIAWA, Hawaii - The No. 24 UNLV men's golf team shot an opening-round 9-under-par 279 on Wednesday during the first round of the 32nd Annual John A. Burns Intercollegiate played at Leilehua Golf Course (par 72, 6,917 yards) and sits in a tie for fourth place, just one shot back of the leaders.

Auburn, Arizona and San Diego State all shot opening rounds of 10-under 278 to tie for first. UNLV is tied with SMU, just one shot back, while Texas A&M and UTEP are tied for sixth at 7-under 281.

Auburn's Jay Moseley, Arizona's Tarquin Macmanus and San Diego State's Johan Carlsson are all tied for first individually at 6-under 66. UNLV was led by sophomore Eddie Olson's 5-under 67. Olson is in a three-way tie for fourth place, just one shot back of the leaders.

Other UNLV scores and places: senior Matt Kinsinger (69, T9th), junior Seung-Su Han (70, T18th), senior Brandon Loska (73, T56th) and freshman Ji Moon (73, T56th).

The tournament will continue with on Thursday and conclude on Friday with 18 holes each day.
