WAHIAWA, Hawaii - The No. 21 UNLV men's golf team shot a second-round 13-under-par 275 on Thursday at the 32nd Annual John A. Burns Intercollegiate played at Leilehua Golf Course (par 72, 6,917 yards) and moved into second place, three shots back of the leader, heading into Friday's final round.
Auburn leads the 21-team tournament at 25-under 551 after shooting a second-round 15-under 273. UNLV is at 22-under for the tournament, followed by Texas A&M at 21-under, SMU at 20-under and San Diego State at 16-under.
California's Stephen Hale and San Diego State's Johan Carlsson are tied for the individual lead at 10-under 134. Hale shot a second-round 5-under 67, while Carlsson shot a 68 on Thursday. Two players are tied for third at 9-under, while UNLV junior Seung-Su Han and teammate sophomore Eddie Olson are both in a three-way tie for fifth at 8-under. Han carded a 6-under 66 on Thursday, while Olson turned in a score of 69.
UNLV's other second-round scores, places and relation to par: senior Matt Kinsinger (70, T14th, 5-under), freshman Ji Moon (70, T43rd, 1-under) and senior Brandon Loska (77, T88th, 6-over).
The tournament will conclude with 18 holes on Friday.
