Feb. 6, 2008

Final Stats

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Luke Nevill and Johnnie Bryant each scored a season-high 26 points to lead to Utah to a 81-73 victory over UNLV on Wednesday night, snapping a five-game losing streak to the Rebels.

Nevill scored 14 of his points in the final 11 minutes, and the Utes (13-8, 4-4 Mountain West) made 12-of-13 free throws in the final six to snap UNLV's five-game winning streak and drop the Rebels (17-5, 6-2) out of a first-place tie for the Mountain West Conference lead.

Joe Darger led the Rebels with 18 points, and Curtis Terry added 14.

Utah held leading scorer Wink Adams to just 11 points on 3-for-11 shooting. The Rebels made just 9-of-24 3-pointers, and made just two steals with their pressure defense.

The Utes built a 59-50 lead with a 10-0 run midway through the second half. UNLV eventually cut it to 75-73 on Curtis Terry's lay-up with 37.6 seconds left. But Utah's Luka Drca and Tyler Kepkay made four straight free throws in the final 34 seconds, while the Rebels missed on two three-point attempts to seal the result.
