LAS VEGAS - The UNLV men's tennis team climbed back to the .500 mark at 6-6 with a 5-2 victory over Ball State at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on Friday.
UNLV began the afternoon by taking two of three doubles matches for one team point. Elliot Wronski and Wesley Burrows won 8-1 at the top spot and then Bryan Miller and Andrew Giuffrida edged their opponents on court three 9-7 to clinch it.
In singles, four Rebels won in straight sets. Wronski, ranked 93rd, swept Jose Perdomo 6-2, 6-4 at the top position to improve to 9-3 in dual matches this season. Luca Barlocchi eased by Eduardo Pavia 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2; Burrows won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3 and Miller won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4.
"It was really good to see No. 3 doubles come through to clinch the point and give us momentum," UNLV head coach Owen Hambrook said. "I'm also glad to see us come out and finish the week hard with a win after two disappointing results. Now we'll look forward to our trip to the Bay Area."
UNLV will close out its non-conference schedule with a two-match road trip. The Rebels play at San Francisco on Monday and then at California on Tuesday.
