LAS VEGAS - UNLV football returned to the fields on Monday for a 24-period spring practice on a gorgeous Las Vegas spring day.
THE BLACK JERSEY
Donning THE BLACK JERSEY on Monday was sophomore cornerback Quinton Pointer (Cape Coral, FL/Mariner HS). After being nominated every eligible practice, "Q" finally won the honor.
Also nominated was sophomore defensive lineman Malo Taumua (Honolulu, HI/Aiea HS).
"Quinton Pointer plays hard, shows physical toughness and makes a lot of plays every practice," said Sanford.
THE BLACK JERSEY is worn by the previous practice's top performer and the coaching staff votes on the winner.

BELL TOILS FOR 40
Former UNLV linebacker Beau Bell took part in a private pro timing/testing day on Monday morning at his old digs at Rebel Park. At least 40 NFL scouts were on hand.
"It's great to have so many pro people on campus, including 5-6 NFL linebacker position coaches," Sanford said. "It was a fantastic turnout and it will be interesting to see how it all shakes out in the draft."

UNLV's next practice will be Wednesday (April 2) at Rebel Park and is scheduled to last from approximately 4:00-6:00 p.m. All practices this spring are free and open to the public but visitors must stay in the designated viewing areas on the grass practice field.
Fans are also invited to attend the FREE Scarlet vs. Gray spring game on April 18 at Sam Boyd Stadium from approximately 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
