Week 12 Recap: UNLV played four contests in the Beehive State this past weekend with a doubleheader against Utah and two games against BYU. All four games were decided by one run and went the way of the home team. Three of the affairs went the distance with them decided in the home teams' final at-bat.

The UNLV-Utah doubleheader was originally set for the Ute Softball Field, but was moved to Utah Valley's MSTAR Field in Orem, due to poor field conditions in Salt Lake City. The temperature on the day hovered around 40-degrees, but with the wind factored in it felt like it was in the low-30s. Snow became a factor, as game one was halted for nearly an hour in the fourth inning.

In game one at Utah, UNLV jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead through its first two innings of play, but watched as Utah chipped away at the deficit the remainder of the game. Ultimately, the Utes rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh to prevail 8-7. Ashli Holland and Jessica DeMatteo contributed two RBI each, while Brittany Bolinger scored three times.

In game two at Utah, the Rebels fell behind 1-0 after three, but scored one run each in the fourth and fifth innings to take a 2-1 lead. Utah got a single run in the fifth to tie the score at 2-2 and the eventual game-winner in the sixth. Rosa Ordaz and Laura Briones were responsible for both of UNLV's RBI.

In game one at BYU, UNLV snapped a scoreless tie with two scores in the fourth, while BYU recorded one in the bottom of the frame. BYU evened up the game in the fifth. With the score tied 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh, BYU loaded up the bases only to see UNLV record two quick outs. With the decisive batter at the plate, a ground ball was misplayed and allowed the Cougars to win, 3-2, on the error.

In game two at BYU, UNLV held a 4-3 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth only to see Angeline Quiocho hit a go-ahead three-run home run for the home team. Jaci Hull pulled the Rebels even at 6-6 with a clutch, two-run home run in the top of the seventh. BYU wound up prevailing in the contest, as they got a call reversed to put the winning run on base. A sac-bunt and two singles were enough to plate the final run of the game to give BYU the 7-6 win.
