ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - SECOND ROUND PARTIAL RESULTS

Battling high winds at the end of its round, the UNLV women's golf team fought through the conditions and posted a solid second-round score of 297 (+9) at the NCAA Championships on Wednesday.

Severe wind caused play to be suspended once at 12:10 p.m. (PDT), and then the second round was postponed until Thursday at 3:55 p.m. in the afternoon. There were 12 teams still out on the course when play was suspended, but the Rebels were already in the clubhouse as they teed off at 7:00 a.m. this morning.

The nine-over par round by UNLV was 17-stroke improvement over the team's opening-round on Tuesday, and the 297 was the third-best round of today by a team that concluded its 18 holes.

"It was a great day for us in very windy conditions," UNLV head coach Missy Ringler said. "We stayed mentally tough and although the wind really started blowing with seven holes to go, we held it together. I am really proud of the team."

UNLV has a two-round total of 611 (+35) and is currently in 22nd, although that could change as teams finish their second round tomorrow.

USC and UCLA are tied for first place with scores of 584 (+8), and they both finished their rounds today, while six of the other teams in the top 10 were just getting their rounds underway when play was postponed. Belen Mozo of USC has the individual lead with a two-round score of 140 (-4) and Azahara Munoz of Arizona State is second with a total of three-under 141.

Alejandra Guacaneme and Therese Koelbaek are both currently tied for 61st with scores of 151 (+7), and Guacaneme posted the team's best round on Wednesday with a one-over 73.

Natasha Krishna is next for the Rebels, as she is tied for 87th with a score of 154 (+10) and Tonya Choate is tied for 98th with a two-round total of 155 (+11). After they both shot in the 80s yesterday, they both carded rounds of two-over 74. Kasi Lee is in 126th with a two-round total of 166 (+22).

This is the first NCAA tournament for all five players in the Rebel lineup.
