LAS VEGAS - The No. 21 UNLV men's golf team shot rounds of 11-under-par 277 and 4-over 292 respectively, and is in second place after Friday's action at the William H. Tucker Invitational, which is being held at the University of New Mexico's Championship Course (par 72, 7,403 yards) in Albuquerque, N.M.
Host New Mexico shot rounds of 11-under 277 and 1-under 287 and leads UNLV by five strokes at 12-under 564. UNLV's two-round total is 7-under 569, while Ohio State is third at 3-under, Pepperdine is fourth at even par and Colorado rounds out the top five at 2-over. A total of 16 teams are competing at the event.
New Mexico's Brandon Putman, who is competing as an individual, shot rounds of 4-under 68 and 2-under 70 to lead the tournament by one shot at 6-under 138. Ohio State's Bo Hoag is second after rounds of 2-under 70 and 3-under 69.
UNLV junior Eddie Olson leads all Rebel players after shooting 5-under 67 and 2-over 74 and is tied for sixth place at 3-under 141. Freshmen Derek Ernst and Ji Moon are both tied for 10th at 1-under 143. Senior Seung-Su Han is tied for 16h at 1-over 145, while junior Brett Kanda is tied for 20th at 2-over 146. Sophomore Jeremiah Wooding is competing as an individual and is tied for 72nd at 12-over 156.
