LONG BEACH, Calif. - The UNLV men's and women's swimming and diving teams posted a total of three victories on the third day of competition at the 2009 Finis Collegiate Invitational, held in Long Beach, Calif., and hosted by Cal Lutheran University.

UNLV swept both of the night's relays on the men's side, with David Seiler, Andrew Morrell, Cody Roberts and Charlie Tapp posting a time of 1:29.96 in the 200 medley relay. The Rebels also finished the night with a win in the 800 free relay, with Kyle Virva, Kier Maitland, David Seiler and Calan Eldridge claimed first in a time of 6:42.35. Seiler won the 100 fly in 48.67, while Maitland was the fastest college swimmer in the 200 free in 1:38.94, finishing behind unattached and Rebel alumni Richard Hortness who won the event.

On the women's side, UNLV would post a total of five runner-up finishes, beginning with the 200 medley relay squad made up of Ana Dangalakova, Kelsey Clarke, Emma Gustafsson and Madison Rousell that finished in a time of 1:45.43. Dangalakova would add a second-place swim in the 400 IM (4:24.71), while Marva Harpak was second in the 200 free (1:50.14) and Katie Matulic was runner-up in the 100 fly (56.80). UNLV also placed second in the 800 free relay, as Harpak, Friderika Szel, Lara Sreibers and Nakayla Chan touched the wall in 7:30.39.

In the men's team standings, UNLV is second with 1,224 points out of eight teams, while UC Santa Barbara is first with 1,503 points. UNLV also stands in second on the women's side with 1,434 points, with UCSB also leading with 1,486.5 points.

The meet will conclude on Monday.
