UNLV-Arizona Game Notes 
IN THE BATTER'S BOX
UNLV continues its season-long homestand to open up the 2009 season by hosting Arizona in a two-game midweek series at Earl E. Wilson Stadium, with the first game slated for Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. (PT) and the second on Wednesday at noon. The Rebels play their first 14 games at home to open up the year, including playing four doubleheaders. Tuesday's game will be the first of nine regular season games that will be carried live on KSHP 1400 AM, with Bob Blum calling the play-by-play and Adam Candee handling color duties. Both games of the series will be streamed live and fans can also follow along via gametracker at www.unlvrebels.com.
REBELS AT A GLANCE
UNLV opened the 2009 season by winning the first three of a four-game set against Maine last weekend at Earl E. Wilson Stadium and is currently 3-1 overall ... The Rebels won by scores of 4-2, 9-5 and 4-3 before losing on Sunday, 11-9, to the Black Bears ... UNLV's three straight wins to open up the year marks the first time the program has done that since the 1992 season ... Junior catcher Drew Beuerlein is off to a fast start, as he is hitting .625 (5-8) with two home runs and five RBI to lead the Rebels at the plate ... Both home runs came in Sunday's game, as Beuerlein went 4-for-4 with the two home runs, two doubles and four runs scored, all career highs ... On the mound freshman Tanner Peters made a strong debut, as the freshman gave up one run on five hits in six innings of work to earn the win in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader ... UNLV head coach Buddy Gouldsmith has a career record of 150-157 (.488) and is in his sixth season ... The Rebels open the season by playing their first 14 games at Earl E. Wilson Stadium, including four doubleheaders.
WILDCATS AT A GLANCE
Arizona is 2-1 after taking two-of-three from Sacramento State this past weekend in Tucson ... The Wildcats won on Friday (5-3) and Sunday (11-2), but dropped the middle game of the series to the Hornets, 10-7 ... This will be the first road trip for the Wildcats, who will then return home for 13 consecutive games at Frank Sancet Field ... Bryce Ortega and Steve Selsky are both hitting .400 (4-10) through three games ... Donn Roach, who is scheduled to start against the Rebels on Wednesday, is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA after tossing six scoreless innings on Sunday ... Arizona is coached by Andy Lopez, who has a record of 254-160 in his ninth year at Arizona and has an overall record of 941-578-7 in his 28th year of coaching.
THE SERIES
Arizona leads the all-time series with the Rebels by a mark of 11-9 (.550), and the Wildcats took two games from the Rebels last year in Tucson, sweeping a midweek series by scores of 6-5 and 16-6. The last time UNLV beat Arizona came at Earl E. Wilson Stadium during the 2007 season, when Braden Walker drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning for an 8-6 win.
